Fabrication and characterization electrospun clinoptilolite filled polylactic acid composite membrane: purification of multiple impurities from water

New Research Using IDASONIC NanoWeaver®-Pro Published

🎉 Congratulations to S. Kahraman, A. Katirci, A. Aytac, S. Veli and F. U. Nigiz for their work published in Applied Clay Science. In their study, electrospun clinoptilolite (Clp)-polylactic acid (PLA) nanocomposite membranes were fabricated and the removal of different pollutants in water was investigated. In this context, IDASONIC NanoWeaver®-Pro electrospinning system was used and played an important role in the production of membranes. Thanks to our system offering high sensitivity and reliability, nanofiber structures were successfully produced, and we would like to thank the researchers for choosing our device. 🙌

💧 New Approaches in Water Treatment with Electrospun Membranes

In this study, the removal of pollutants such as methylene blue (MB), soybean oil, microplastics (Polyamide 66, PA66) and Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonate (LAS) from synthetic gray water was investigated. The results obtained are as follows:

✅ Over 90% methylene blue removal

✅ 87.84% oil removal (with 4 wt% Clp loaded membrane)

✅ 100% microplastic removal

✅ 66.6% LAS removal (with 3 wt% Clp loaded membrane)

⚙️ The Role of IDASONIC NanoWeaver®-Pro

IDASONIC NanoWeaver®-Pro used in the study ensured homogeneous distribution of clinoptilolite particles in the PLA matrix during the electrospinning process, thereby increasing the water holding capacity, surface hydrophilicity and mechanical strength of the membranes. In addition, tests have revealed that the membranes produced show antimicrobial properties against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. 🦠

🌱 Contribution to Sustainable Filtration Technologies

The biodegradable PLA polymer and clinoptilolite, a natural zeolite, used in the study serve the purpose of developing a sustainable membrane that minimizes environmental impacts. IDASONIC NanoWeaver®-Pro continues to support scientific research with its innovative electrospinning technology. 🚀
