The Power of Nanofiber Membranes in Electricity Production from Dairy Wastewater

Scientific Success with IDASONIC NanoWeaver-Pro!

The Power of Nanofiber Membranes in Electricity Production from Dairy Wastewater

At IDASONIC, we take great pride in supporting scientific research with our cutting-edge technology solutions! The study titled “Electricity production from dairy wastewater using phosphotungstic acid-Poly(vinylidene fluoride) Membrane supported microbial fuel cell”, conducted by Prof. Dr. Nigiz and researcher Ozyoru, published in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, represents a significant advancement in the fields of sustainable energy production and wastewater management.

Sustainable Electricity Generation with Microbial Fuel Cells

The study explores electricity generation from dairy industry wastewater using microbial fuel cells (MFCs). Proton exchange membranes (PEMs) play a critical role in MFC systems, as the efficiency of electricity production largely depends on their hydrogen transfer performance. In this research, poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) nanofiber membranes enriched with phosphotungstic acid (PTA) were developed to enhance performance in this field.

Superior Performance of Nanofiber Membranes Produced with IDASONIC NanoWeaver-Pro

The nanofiber membranes used in this study were developed using the IDASONIC NanoWeaverPro electrospinning device. The results were highly impressive:

✅ Nanostructure and Mechanical Strength: The addition of PTA reduced fiber diameter from micro-scale structures to the nanoscale, increasing mechanical strength from 5.67 MPa to 8.86 MPa.
✅ Proton Conductivity and Ion Exchange Capacity: Proton conductivity significantly improved, rising from 0.56 mS/cm to 1.61 mS/cm, enhancing hydrogen transfer efficiency.
✅ Electricity Production Efficiency: Thanks to PTA-enriched membranes, power generation in the cell increased threefold, reaching 8.8 mW/m².
✅ Antimicrobial Effect: PTA incorporation enhanced the antibacterial properties of the membrane, preventing biofilm formation and ensuring longer-lasting efficiency in MFC systems.

IDASONIC’s Mark on Science and Technology!

This study demonstrates how IDASONIC’s innovative electrospinning technology provides critical infrastructure for sustainable energy production and advanced material research. NanoWeaverÒ Pro enables scientists to develop higher-performance materials by ensuring precise and reproducible nanofiber production.

We congratulate Prof. Dr. Nigiz and researcher Ozyoru on this remarkable achievement. We are thrilled to see the impact of IDASONIC technology in the scientific community and remain committed to shaping the future with sustainable energy, eco-friendly materials, and innovative nanotechnology solutions!
